Residents at Bankview Care Home have been enjoying trips to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s grandest castles, due to its imposing position and impressive architecture.
Residents thoroughly enjoyed visiting the castle and learning about the famous battles like Stirling Bridge and Bannockburn. Everyone loved listening about the Wars of Independence; the civil wars among the Scots as well as the struggles between Scotland and England, and how the castle had changed hands eight times in 50 years.
Stirling Castle was the key to the kingdom of Scotland, and residents really enjoyed learning about its history and seeing inside the building; the grand interiors and rooms, and learning more about how people lived back then.
A picnic lunch and refreshments were also provided in the beautiful gardens surrounding the Castle.
