Larkfield View Care Home opened its doors for Care Home Open Day to give people the chance to discover the full extent of the homes work in the local community.
The home were busy celebrating Care Home Open Day on Friday 16th June, with residents, families and friends, and staff working within the home. Care Home Open Day is a UK wide initiative inviting care homes to open their doors and welcome the public, by arranging enjoyable events and activities that can help to create lasting links between care home residents and local communities.
With Care Home Open Day’s emphasis on the importance of connecting with local communities, Manager of Larkfield View Care Home, Elsie MacLennan invited neighbours and local supporting businesses to the event; to promote the development of lasting relationships, and to encourage intergenerational rapport, in line with the ‘Friendship’ theme for 2017.
Staff at the care home organised an outdoor barbecue with a Western theme, followed by afternoon tea with home made cupcakes; giving everyone the opportunity to connect and socialise amongst each other.
Manager of Larkfield View Care Home, Elsie MacLennan said “Care Home Open Day gives us a stage to invite the public through our doors and engage with the local community, we are extremely proud to celebrate lasting relationships between the care home and our neighbours.”
