Almond Court Care Home in Glasgow are celebrating after receiving the Excellence in Promoting Food Hygiene Award from the Eat Safe Awards.
The prestigious Eat Safe Award is among the most recognised in Scotland. The Food Hygiene Award is a recognisable sign of excellence in standards to food hygiene by local authorities.
Inspectors visited Almond Court to decide if the care home was suitable for the award, looking at their kitchen and hygiene methods.
The inspection involved looking closely at the training, general hygiene and quality of food produced by Head Chef Jacqueline and her team within the Kitchen Department of the home. Inspectors will then decide if Almond Court would receive the recognised award.
Almond Court staff were delighted to be told that following their inspection they had been selected to receive the award, which was presented to the home by the local Environmental Health authorities.
Jacqueline, Head Chef at Almond Court, said “All the Kitchen Department at Almond Court love their roles and know they are making a difference to the elderly resident’s day to day lives in the home. On behalf of all the Kitchen Department we are delighted to be recognised for our hygiene.”
Lorna, Service Manager at Almond Court, also said “I’m very proud of the Kitchen Department, their role in the home is vital but they don’t always receive recognition from awarding bodies, I’m delighted they have been recognised in this way.”
