Grandholm Residents Enjoy Heartwarming Visit To Local Farm

Residents at Grandholm Care Home in Bridge of Don have been enjoying a truly memorable day out after a recent visit to Tamala Farm this week, where they took part in a special hands-on lamb experience

Grandholm Residents Enjoy Heartwarming Visit To Local Farm

The outing gave residents the opportunity to feed and interact with two-week-old lambs, creating moments of joy and connection. The visit ended with time spent in the lambing pen, surrounded by playful animals and plenty of bosies with their new fluffy friends.

Experiences like this are not only enjoyable but also bring meaningful wellbeing benefits. Research into animal-assisted activities shows that interaction with animals can help to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and improve mood among older adults. For those living in care settings, these moments can also spark memories, encourage social interaction, and provide valuable sensory stimulation.

"It was just lovely. The lambs were so soft and full of life, it really lifted my spirits. I could have stayed there all day watching them play."

Grandholm Resident

Creating opportunities like this is such an important part of what we do. Seeing the smiles on residents’ faces as they fed and interacted with the lambs was incredibly special. These experiences support emotional wellbeing and help bring a real sense of connection and joy."

The visit forms part of Grandholm’s ongoing commitment to enriching the lives of residents through meaningful activities and community engagement. The team are already looking forward to returning to the farm in the future.
