In General News

Beechwood care home have been heaped with praise by the Care Inspectorate, following an unannounced inspection. The Wishaw care home, under the ownership of Holmes Care Group, has been rated 5’s (Very Good) in all 4 inspection themes; care and support, environment, staffing and management and leadership.

Cathy Togneri, Manager at Beechwood said “The team work tirelessly to provide impeccable 24 hour care for our residents, and while we are confident the home is continually improving, we are absolutely delighted that the Care Inspectorate has confirmed this with such a positive report.”

The latest Care Inspectorate report is packed full of positive comments about all aspects of the care home’s services, stating that “the service continued to build on enabling residents to take a more active role within Beechwood, should they wish this. This included helping to cook at the breakfast club, working with the maintenance staff and carrying out some audits to improve the service. This gave people a real sense of belonging and contributing to the service.”

Beechwood has a dedicated team in place to organise activities for residents such as walking trips, barbecues, parties in the beautiful courtyard and trips to the local community.

In the report, the inspectors picked up on the full activity programme offered at the home, commenting on how the home “was engaging with the local community including joining a local walking group, memory spinners with Scottish Opera and working with a local primary school. The service has also enhanced the activities within the care home to include a yoga therapist and recent visits from therapy ponies.”

The home caters for 89 people and offers nursing, and personal care for those with dementia, as well as caring for young people with physical and/or learning disabilities.

Managing Director of Holmes Care Group, Sharifa Lakhani, believes the rating is testament to the hard work put in by staff.

She said: “We are delighted with the report’s findings.
“All our staff have worked incredibly hard, their determination to provide the very best care for our residents is reflected in the positive comments in the report.”

To all the staff at Almond View - a big thank you for looking after Mum, with such kindness and dedication. Despite living 400 miles away, I always had a good feeling that she was in good hands. When I did visit, the staff without exception, stopped to chat to us even though they were extremely busy. Please accept my heart felt thank you to you all - a real credit to Almond View.

Bankview Care Home

Thank you for the excellent level of care that my father, Frank Boyle, has received. Bankview demonstrated for us the template for a care home and how it should feel and be run. Friendly, welcoming, excellent care levels, length of time staff remain loyal to the home and above all a clear and comforting atmosphere of great leadership.

K Macdonald in memory of my Aunt Jean

I can't exaggerate the admiration I have for the management and staff of Craigielea. I've never experienced so much patience, coaxing, kindness and care. These people share their lives and emotions, laugh and cry and mourn for the people who entrust themselves to care.

J Ellis in memory of Steve

The staff talked about my best friend being an inspiration to them, despite his illness It made me change my approach with him, instead of being despondent and sad, I spoke with him the way we had always been with each other. The staff saw him as a person.
